An Iowa native, and former collegiate basketball player, Alicia Franklin “came to Texas as fast as she could” to pursue her dream of becoming a lawyer. She knew at a young age she wanted to be a lawyer with aspirations of one day becoming a Judge. A graduate of Mount Mercy, summa cum laude and St. Mary’s Law School in San Antonio, Alicia Franklin now runs a successful family law practice in Houston that specializes in all aspects of family law.
At an early age, Alicia’s family instilled in her the importance of community, hard work, and a strong Christian foundation. Her grandparents immigrated to America from Croatia to escape the devastating effects of communism and to pursue the American dream. Alicia remains committed to these values, and is an active member with the 100 Club, Habitat for Humanity, mentor to children at JFK middle school, and an active member at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church.
Family law requires a specific set of skills, and Alicia has demonstrated that she has the experience and temperament for the job. She often acts as a mediator to resolve complex, emotional family law issues. This requires an even temperament, good listening skills, compassion, and knowledge of the complex legal issues involved. Alicia does not take a “cookie cutter” approach, but rather treats all parties involved with a mutual respect and works toward the best resolution as allowed by law.
Alicia loves to travel and spend time with her family and fiancé. She has completed three Houston marathons.
